Hutchison Austria offers an iPad discount with 2-year contract for Huawei i-Mo 3G modem

Are you an Austrian and thinking about to purchase an iPad? Hutchison offer seems to be a better if you are willing to give a 2-year commitment for an iPad that costs you €29.90 monthly with a 5GB data contract. The price of the device is still not sure for how much it will be sold outside the United States by Apple. While the Hutchison are on their plans to unveil a 3G version based iPad coupled with a Huawei i-Mo 3G modem, which adds a personal WiFi space with each iPad. There is no clue when the device would hit the Austria market.

Apple reports 50% jump in Q1 profit to $3.38 bn, doubles iPhone sales

Apple doubles its iPhone sales and registered a 50% jump in its profit in fiscal Q1 financial which ended on December 26th, whereas the Mac sales up 33%. The interesting thing to look at is, the iPod sales have seen a drop up to 8% when compared to its sales in the earlier year. Apple revenues stood at $15.68 billion with a 32% rise in revenue, according to consumer electronics report. On the whole, Apple showed a $3.38 billion profit in Q1 from $2.26 billion or $3.67 a share which was $2.50 a share in the last year. Additionally in this quarter, Apple has adopted a new accounting principle for subscription devices such as the iPhone and the Apple TV. Read the rest of this entry »

Vodafone offers iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G on its UK network

Vodafone offers the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G and is the latest UK carrier along with the O2, Orange and Tesco Mobile carriers. The Vodafone is selling the 16GB iPhone 3GS available for free on two-year contract which costs you about £45 ($73) per month, and a 32GB iPhone 3GS available for free on two-year contract which costs you about £75 ($122) per month. Apple Countersues Nokia, says “Companies must compete by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours”

Nokia had filed a lawsuit against Apple some time back in October in a U.S. District Court in Delaware stating that Apple had infringed over ten patents of them related to GSM, UMTS, wireless LAN standards, wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption. Ilkka Rahnasto, vice president of Legal & Intellectual Property at Nokia says that, “The basic principle in the mobile industry is that those companies who contribute in technology development to establish standards create intellectual property, which others then need to compensate for.” Also adds, “Apple is also expected to follow this principle. By refusing to agree appropriate terms for Nokia’s intellectual property, Apple is attempting to get a free ride on the back of Nokia’s innovation.” Read the rest of this entry »

Apple Quietly Adds 3.33 GHz Quad-Core Xeon, 2TB HDD Options to Mac Pro

Apple Mac Pro updates its Desktop PCs with a new processor 3.33 GHz Intel Xeon quad-core CPU to speed up your processing capability which costs you an extra $1200 if you want to upgrade and a 2TB SATA 3 Gbps hard disk drive runs at 7,200 rpm comes with 32GB of cache (also available on the Apple Xserver server) priced at $350.

Reports says that, Apple is making its move to introduce a new 6-core, 12-thread Xeon (Gulftown) processor built on 32nm processes and with 12MB of shared cache in early 2010. The most advantageous and interesting to note her is, it runs 50% faster than the existing quad-core Xeons, while it saves power as it just consumes only 50% power.
