NVIDIA unveils its first GeForce 300 series chip – GeForce 310

Posted by dillesh on November 29, 2009

As every one is enjoying the Thanksgiving Day, NVIDIA quietly introduces GeForce 310 chipset which is a direct replacement to their earlier GeForce 210 chipset. It is developed with a main intention to improve the integrated graphics performance of the machines. The new GeForce 310 offers 1080p high definition video in hardware along with the usual computing tasks irrespective to whether it is NVIDIA’s own CUDA and PhysX or more universal standards like DirectCompute and OpenCL.

GeForce 310 follows the same architecture instead of Fermi design which offers DirectX 11-level graphics and much stronger general computing performance. The chipset runs on 589MHz processor added with 512MB of 500MHz DDR2 memory, along with DisplayPort, DVI and VGA ports and will work with HDMI using an adapter for either the DisplayPort or DVI.

There is no word on when it may ship to the stores and the expected price of the video card yet.
